I begin by looking closely at a land carved into endless lines, where a sterile seed binds the landscape to a fleeting, unrenewable cycle. Shifting between distance and proximity, I search this abstract landscape only to return to a contaminated ground, where repetition endures and everything begins again.

This project was developed in the context of an artist residency at the invitation of Solar - Galeria de Arte Cinemática. It brings together artistic practice and research focused on the monoculture maize fields of Vila do Conde. Within the film, shifting relations between proximity and distance challenge the position of the gaze and, ultimately, the limits of human perspective.
The exhibition was presented in the space “Cave”, a fitting context given its position below ground level, where I installed a dent corn kernel alongside a precision magnifying lens, in addition to the film projection. Over time, this sterile grain, observed through magnification, gradually deteriorated, echoing the condition of the soils shaped by this form of cultivation. On the day of the exhibition's opening, Henrik Ferrara performed live an echo of the music created for the film and installation.
